How to Use Creative Tonies: The Basics
Getting started with your new Creative Tonie is incredibly simple. The secret to managing all your custom content is the free tonies® app, which acts as your digital remote control.
Step 1: Download the tonies® app
Grab the free app from the App Store or Google Play.
Step 2: Add Your Creative Tonie
Place your new Creative Tonie on the Toniebox to register it to your household. You will hear a welcoming audio prompt indicating that it is ready to go.
Now, open the tonies® app, tap on the "Tonies" tab, and you will see your new figure waiting for you!
Step 3: Record or Upload Audio
You have up to 90 minutes of space to fill! In the tonies® app, tap on your Creative Tonie. From here, you can:
- Record directly: Tap the microphone icon to record a voice message, read a book out loud, or sing a song right into your smartphone.
- Upload files: Tap the upload icon to add existing MP3 or WAV audio files from your device.
- Browse app content: Pick out ready-made content to add to your Creative Tonie’splaylist.
Step 4: Sync Your Toniebox
This is the most important step! After you save changes in the app, you need to tell your Toniebox to look for the new updates. To do this, turn on the Toniebox (with no Tonie on top), then pinch one of the Toniebox ears for about 3 seconds until you hear a chime and the LED flashes blue. Once the light turns solid green, pop your Creative Tonie on top, and enjoy the new audio!
Troubleshooting Common Creative Tonie Hiccups
Even our longest listeners hit a small snag every now and then. Here’s how to get back to the fun in a flash:
"I uploaded new audio, but my Toniebox isn't playing it."
The Fix: Your Toniebox just needs a quick sync! Whenever you add or change content in the tonies® app, the Toniebox needs to connect to Wi-Fi to download it. Remove the Tonie, pinch one ear for three seconds until you hear the chime and see the blue light. Wait for the solid green light, and place the Tonie back on the box.
"The tonies® app says my Creative Tonie is full."
The Fix: Creative Tonies hold up to 90 minutes of audio. If you have hit the limit, it is very easy to make room for new favorites. Open the tonies® app, select your Creative Tonie, and swipe left on any audio track you no longer need to delete it. Don't forget to sync your Toniebox afterward!
"Grandma wants to record a story, but she doesn't live with us."
The Fix: You don't need to be in the same house or even the same continent to add audio! You can easily invite family members to contribute. In the tonies® app, go to the "Household" tab and select "Members." You can invite loved ones via email. Once they accept and download the app, they can record their own voice notes and stories directly onto your child's Creative Tonie from wherever they are.
"My uploaded MP3 file won't save to the app."
The Fix: Double-check the file type and size. The tonies® app supports standard audio files like MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG, and WMA. Please consult the latest product support materials for a complete list of supported formats. Also, ensure the file isn't larger than 1GB. If your file is a different format, you may need to use a free online audio converter to switch it to an MP3 before uploading.
